Building Distributed Learning Environments is an introductory level course for educators who want to create an online distributed learning resource to support classroom students, online learners or a professional community of practice. An experienced facilitator mentors participants as they build their shell over an 6-week period of time. The focus is on organizing course tools, effective use of communication tools, strategies for engaging learners and use of online management tools. The course becomes a "hub" for educators, a place to share ideas and receive support from colleagues.

Note: This course is normally 8 weeks long, but during the summer, it is of a 6 week duration. Although the time is condensed, the content is not. Participants are expected to complete the entire course by July 30th, 2010.
